Two Hendrix College seniors have been named semifinalists for 2022-2023 Fulbright Awards.
Kaylen Holman ’22 and Maggie Kleck ’22 are semifinalists for Study/Research Awards in Finland. Holman plans to pursue a master’s degree in Neuroscience at the University of Helsinki, and Kleck will enroll in the Inequalities, Interventions, and New Welfare State Master of Arts program at the University of Turku.
Both Holman and Kleck have been recommended by the Fulbright National Screening Committee to proceed to the next stage of the award process. Final award determinations will be made by the Finland Fulbright Commission. Finalists will be announced over the next several weeks.
“The competition for Fulbright Study/Research grants is particularly stiff; being a semifinalist is a notable accomplishment,” said Hendrix’s Fulbright Program Advisor and Professor of Politics, Dr. Daniel J. Whelan. “We’re of course eager to see both Kaylen and Maggie and named as finalists later this Spring.”
“As they shaped their applications, Kaylen and Maggie learned how to understand the experiences they’ve accumulated during their time at Hendrix,” said Professor of English and Coordinator of Distinguished Scholarships Dr. Dorian Stuber. “It’s exhilarating to see Hendrix experience turned into personal narrative. No matter what happens next, they’ll take that story with them.”
